UV Purifier

Trojan UVMAX G UltraViolet Disinfection System

UV purifier system can be a powerful means to rapidly and effectively kill bacteria or viruses in your drinking water—ideal for homes, cottages, restaurants, and schools. Cryptosporidium cysts cannot be eliminated by commonly used disinfectants, such as chlorine, but UV light is an effective alternative to sterilize them. NSF/ANSI Standard 53 covers point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems drinking water treatment units designed to reduce specific health related contaminants including cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, VOC’s, MTBE, etc. that may be present in public or private drinking water.  But ANSI/NSF Standard 55 specifically covers UV disinfection, which requires a minimum 38 mWs/cm2 dose to adequately disinfect non-turbid drinking water. The ultraviolet purifier can be used alone or can be installed following activated or RO filtration.

Normally, well water sources should not contain Cryptosporidium cysts or Giardia. But leaks from septic tanks, cesspools, drainage fields, untreated municipal sewage discharges, floods, natural disasters, or failure of a well casing can contaminate drinking water with bacteria and viruses.

If you are looking to buy a UV purifier because your water testing shows Cryptoporium contamination,  or you want to install one as a preventative measure against potential contamination, here are great UV purification systems that can adequately disinfect your drinking water against the bacteria cysts.
