How to Filter Rain Water during Emergencies

You can filter rain water to make it healthy to drink during emergencies.  Rain water is supposed to be pure but the air pollution we all create does not allow rain water to come down as pure.

In underdeveloped countries, rain water can come handy due to the scarcity of potable water.  In the pre-technology age, probably less than 20 years ago, most people will collect rain water through their roof gutters.

But air pollution and other man-made events have made rain water less desirable to drink. Even the remotest part of the world is no longer spared of air pollution. The roof water was not always the purest, but it was much better than water from streams and possibly cleaner than what it is today.

During emergencies like hurricane, earthquakes, drinkable water can become a high commodity, driving people to buy bottled water which is not best choice anyway. If there is a temporary loss of public water supply, you can filter rain water in order continue to drink clean healthy water before public water supply is available. Multi-Pure EF8 emergency water filter is a handy filtration device designed to filter rain water, or even water  from a hot water heater, toilet tank (not bowl), mountain stream, a lake, and more.

By carefully following the instructions that come with the emergency water filter, you make rain water drinkable.  If you are taking water from the hot water tank, be sure to allow it to cool before you run it through the emergency filter. Water in most hotels can have taste; so you could also filter tap water from a hotel room by following the filtration steps.

The filter is one of Multi-Pure’s popular carbon block filters. The useful life span of the EF8 emergency filter will vary depending on the level of contamination in the source water. Under ideal conditions where the source water is free from high levels of chemicals, heavy metals and other contaminants, this emergency filter may last up to 100 gallons rain water or other source water. However, if there is a high level of sediment, the filter may clog prematurely.

Just follow the simple steps and you will be drinking clean water in a matter of minutes. If you buy Multi-Pure’s Emergency Preparedness Kit, you will receive a collapsible bucket.  But you can use your own bucket collect the source water to be filtered. Simply use any container that will hold water, and is large enough to submerge the EF8 filter.

You can buy this emergency filter for just $39.95.  You may visit Multi-Pure’s website for more information on how to buy this filter or the kit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by email.
