Water Purifier Systems
| Good water purifier systems must be effective remove, kill, or inactivate all types of disease-causing microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and protozoan to make it safe to drink. A purification system can be any product that contains an antimicrobial (germ-killing) or bacteriostatic (slowing or inhibiting growth of germs) agent and it usually carries an EPA registration. This registration does not mean the purifying device is certified as effective because it is not the same as the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) that testes and certifies for performance.
Both the filters and purifiers are designed to remove or reduce dangerous bacteria, but only a purifier device is capable of removing viruses and protozoan. This device may include a chemical agent like iodine resin and may be followed by additional filtration systems such as charcoal, ceramic, carbon or fiberglass filters to remove any excess chemicals.
